Rice Cake Soup,

떡국 [Tteokguk]

Tteokguk (떡국) or sliced rice cake soup is a traditional Korean dish eaten during the celebration of the Korean New Year. The dish consists of the broth/soup (guk) with thinly sliced rice cakes (tteok). It is tradition to eat tteokguk on New Year's Day.


 Korean people commonly use the expression 'I ate a bowl of Tteokguk' to mean he or she has grown one year older.

Ramen and Gimbab

Ramen is one of the most loved foods in Korea. Nowadays, there are hundreds of ramen noodles in Korea. Ramen is a typical dish for snacks and meals.

In 1963, Samyang Food Corp. introduced technology from Japan and introduced ramen for the first time in 1960 to overcome food shortages caused by poverty in the early 1960s.

In Korea, Ramen and Gimbab is the popular combination. Especially, When people go to the hiking, these are chosen as lunch box. Ramen and Gimbab to eat in the mountains are the best! It's real delicious!!!

Potato pancake and Sujebi

In Korea, there many foods from potatos.

Potatoes can be eaten as sujebi수제비, tteok떡, french fries, salad, and potato pancakes.

Sugebi(Hand-pulled Potato Dough Soup), it's very chewy. And potato pancakes, grated potatos, you can fry it on the pan. It is crispy outside, but is chewy inside. What a delicious pancake!
